Manuel Salinas (1940 - )
Manuel Salinas is an artist who works alone and independent of current fashions.
He was one of the main protagonists that developed Spanish abstract art over the last 35 years. Since the first half of the 1970´s he developed a technique of energetic and rapid brush stokes which he combined together with intense colors and structure.
These came to predominate in his paintings from the mid 1980´s, creating his characteristic compositions of a balance between chromatic mass and a surface articulated with vertical or horizontal figures giving a clear architectural structure to his work
He has travelled widely and although now based in Sevilla has worked in South America and France as well as Barcelona. He has been exhibiting since the 1962 and is recognized as one of the leading abstract artists from Andalucia along with Pepe Soto, Juan Suárez, Gerardo Delgado and Jose Ramon Sierra.
He has work in major collections both Public and Private including:
Museo Reina Sofía, Madrid. Fundación La Caixa, Barcelona. Banco de España, Madrid. Centro Andaluz de Arte Contemporáneo, Sevilla. Fundación El Monte, Sevilla. Museo de Cadaqués, Cadaqués, Gerona. Museo de Arte Contemporáneo, Tenerife. Diputación Provincial de Cádiz. Museo de Arte Contemporáneo Patio Herreriano,Valladolid. Museo Vázquez Díaz, Nerva, Huelva. Colección BBV. Colección Argentaria, Madrid.
Manuel Salinas also has 2 works included in the book by the famous art critic Francisco Calvo Serraller,
